Zapora Złotnicka

Zapora Złotnicka, usytuowana na Jeziorze Złotnickim, jest imponującą budowlą inżynieryjną. Jej powstanie miało miejsce w latach 1919-1924 według projektu Curta Bachmanna z Jeleniej Góry. W trakcie realizacji zatrudniono 325 osób i korzystano z surowców z pobliskiego kamieniołomu i cementu sprowadzanego z Opola. Koszt budowy sięgnął 2,1 mln marek w złocie. Elektrownia z trzema turbinami Francisa o łącznej mocy 4,42 MW została uruchomiona wraz z oddaniem zapory do użytku.

Projekt zapory stanowił część planu ochrony przed powodziami na Pogórzu Sudeckim i tym samym miało być czwartym tego typu przedsięwzięciem na Dolnym Śląsku po Leśnej (1901–1907), Pilchowicach na Bobrze (1904–1912) i Lubachowie na Bystrzycy (1912–1917). W efekcie powstania zapory, utworzono zbiornik o pojemności 10,5 mln m³ i powierzchni 125 ha.
